Brooklyn Donut & Coffee Co with Jared Gardner

While the COVID-19 pandemic has caused widespread disruption in the community, for Brooklyn Donut & Coffee Co, the challenging circumstances have presented an opportunity to broaden their horizons.

A hit with sweet tooths since opening at Westfield Chermside on the north side of Brisbane in 2019, the lack of foot traffic past the store in recent times has seen the company resort to home delivery services such as Uber Eats, as well as couriers to fulfil larger retail orders.

With demand growing, it made financial sense for the business to invest in a light duty truck, servicing clients from the New South Wales border, to Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast.

“Lock down or not, people want their donuts!” said Jared Gardner.

“With our new Fuso, we are able to keep costs in check, and it gives us the flexibility to service all of our new customers as efficiently as possible.

“The way that things evolved, the decision to purchase the truck really came up fast, so we didn’t have a lot of time to spend on researching things like insurance.

“Frankly, with Truck Assist the price was right – nobody needs to be overspending at the moment, which really helps when you are trying to grow.

“Signing up was incredibly simple, we were able to purchase online or over the phone, and we were on our way!”

Another important factor for Brooklyn Donuts is Truck Assist’s Drive Pack Breakdown Service, which keeps the wheels rolling in case of any unforseen issues on the road.

“You never know when you are going to have a drama out and about, so the breakdown service makes a lot of sense,” continued Jared.

“With our growing customer base, the last thing we want to do at the moment is to let anyone down, so it’s nice to have that peace of mind.”
